Commonly called 'Lords and Ladies', this stemless woodland species (Arum italicum 'Marmoratum') has arrow-shaped leaves 8-12" long that can be marbled with creamy variegation as the plant gets settled in your garden. Typically grows 12-18" tall, with a Jack-in-the-Pulpit-type flower produced in spring, followed by orange-red berries. New leaves emerge in autumn and remain evergreen in warm winter climates. Plant these in the same shady conditions loved by hosta - we have it planted in the shady perennial garden at the Arboretum.
