Willow oak (Quercus phellos) is a medium to large, deciduous oak tree of the red oak group that is noted for its oak shape, willow-like leaves and relatively fast growth rate.
Native to east Texas, willow oak is typically found in moist bottomland soils, but can be planted on a variety of sites. Height at maturity is 70 ft.
Uses: Acorns can be an important source of food for wildlife, and the tree provides cover.
